Figma dropdown component updated
After several testing rounds and a collaborative workshop where we compared different versions of the Dropdown component, we now have a new version ready to replace the current one.
Why this change?
- The chosen option was the one that enabled more designers to achieve success cases during testing.
- It simplifies the component structure, making it easier to use and maintain.
- It improves usability and consistency across our designs.
What’s changing?
The component moves from a multi-level structure with separate subcomponents to a more compact version where Header / Item / Divider are integrated into a single component inside the Popout. This reduces complexity and avoids confusion in future iterations. Mobile version
The mobile version is not fully complete yet.
This will be coming soon, as we’re taking a holistic approach to ensure both desktop and mobile are aligned and deliver a coherent experience. Important to note
When updating to the new Dropdown, the content of the current version will be overwritten. We know this can be frustrating in the short term , but it’s a necessary step to ensure everyone works with a clearer and more usable version of the component.
Best practices for updates in Figma
We recommend using branches or the version history before applying the update. This way, if something doesn’t work as expected, you can easily revert without losing your work.
